Cornelius is a huge inspiration for me, specifically for his cerebral approach to vintage forms of pop and rock music and his sonic textures which can be both incredibly slick and incredibly raw. Super recommend his album "Mellow Waves" if you get the time.

I wanted to make something with a psychedelic feel and limit myself to minimal synth work, relying more on percussion patterns. the beginning has the kick hit off of the 1's, eventually slotting back in after the double-time switch. The shakers play with stereo field, etc.

The Apollo 11 recordings were added in late but I'm really happy with the texture they give the track. I felt the build-up needed a push into helping tell the story a little more concretely. Luckily, NASA is a treasure and has a wealth of recordings available to use.
